The New Beginning

Today, I turned a new leaf.

The fire burning in my soul is finally extinguished.

It did leave burns, It did leave marks.

The damage caused is irreversible. But this doesn’t

                     mean it can’t be repaired.

Once upon a time, I was a strong girl.

Hurricane, flood, nothing could wipe that strength away from me.

But, all of the sudden I found myself surrounded with dark clouds,

                The dark clouds of melancholia.

I was lost, fighting each second, to find my way out.

It seemed as if all my efforts went in vain.

It felt as if I was thrown into the sea, not knowing how to swim.

                           I felt suffocated.

                There was avalanche of panic.

But no one was there to save me.

I was alone, all to myself.

No one could save me but myself.

I put myself together and escaped from the cage of utmost

                              dismay.

I experienced depression, insomnia,loneliness and

                           self-hatred.

But it failed to break me apart

Because today, I turned a new leaf.

Every Cloud Has A silver Lining

‘Every cloud has a silver lining’- the most contradictory idiom, according to me. It is one of the most popular sayings which means never lose hope, difficult today leads to better tomorrow. The origin of the idiom traces back to 1634 and was given by John Milton.

After this, so many similar meaning idioms came such as, ‘After storm comes the calm’, ‘whatever happens, happens for good’,’every negative occurrence has a positive aspect to it’ etc.

Well those bad times can be well compared to the clouds. But sometimes those dark clouds just lead to a big storm which leaves huge destruction. The destruction caused is irrevocable. Even if it could be reverse, it just takes a lot of time and sometimes leaves permanent damage.  The damage caused is heartbreaking and sometimes leads to death.

The dark clouds revolving around the mind can be depressing. It is up to a person how they shoo the dark clouds away so the Sun can shine happily again. It is the time when everything feels irritating and you just don’t feel like doing anything. Deep inside there is a realisation that it’s just simply waste of time and you are the one who has to put that realisation to action. It requires will power. Just take an initiative. It’s easy to say than do. But trust me, the same is happening to me. Just waiting for the storm to get over. It’s even more frustrating when you forcefully do a work but that is the first step.

I may find the idiom contradicting and not so true but there is no harm in trying. I guess the storm will be over soon and I will see the Sun shining again.

Paper Towns

This blog is inspired from the book ‘Paper Towns’ by ‘John Green’. The novel is about a girl named Margo.

Paper Town is the fake town created by map makers. They put fake bridges and landmarks to ensure that their work hasn’t been copied.

The concept put me into deep thinking. Do humans have tendency to create their own paper town? Does every person creates his own world of expectations, perceptions etc?

CAMILLE PAGLIA

Hello Readers,

These are my viewpoints about Camille Paglia. This blog is written after the special request of my fellow blogger Fredheiser. You all can check out Fredheiser’s blog.

  • Who is she?

Camille Anna Paglia is an American social critic and also a feminist, often called “Anti-Feminist Feminist”. She is lately been in news because of her viewpoints on Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

  • Statements made by her and my views

‘Embarrassing’ Madonna Gets Destroyed by Feminist Camille Paglia

You can read about it here. Here Paglia accuses Madonna that she sets women back by objectifying herself. Paglia also stated that Madonna is unable to deal with aging and is trying to show that she is still young by sexualising herself. This can be justified when she bragged about her oral giving skills on a stage.

What I think is that, yes, Paglia is totally correct but it’s not only Madonna but also many a female singer and actress. Nearly every music video is sexualised whether it is Fifth Harmony or any other group or an individual. Even Camila Cabello left Fifth Harmony as she realised that the girls are sexualised because of the thinking ‘sex sells’. Sexualising has become a new trend among popstars which is really unnecessary and cringe-worthy. I lost all the respect for Miley Cyrus I had in my childhood.

Calling Hillary Clinton a “disaster”

You can read about it here. People believed that if Hillary Clinton becomes the president, it will mark an era of feminism. But Camille didn’t seem to agree; rather she called Hillary a disaster. She justifies herself by saying that she didn’t accomplish anything and her actions led people from North Africa flood into Italy. She makes miracles a living disaster.

I don’t know how to react to this comment. But I feel that Hillary Clinton does not think before acting towards a situation and makes it even worse. She doesn’t respect anyone and is only a rich spoilt brat who doesn’t show her true side and only pretends to be good. Her racist comment about black community explained everything.

Clothing

You can read about it here.

What I feel is that some women are really pushing forward the idea of free will in clothing. Ok, you do have a right to dress up how you like but there is a fine line which shouldn’t be crossed. I totally agree with Paglia here as she mentioned that you are sexualising your office clothes too. It is true. There should be a degree of professionalism. You can’t dress up in street meat clothing and expect men not to stare. Even women stare a man walking in short shorts and tight tank top in the streets and are like it’s not a beach. Don’t even mention celebs like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who just tape their nipples. It’s not fashion forward and it’s disgusting. There is a way of showing sexiness and skin. Some women just don’t get it and term it as feminism.

CONCLUSION-

What I believe is that Camille Paglia is extremely strong woman who isn’t afraid of making bitter but true statements and doesn’t fear the reactions. I agree that she is a hardcore critic who isn’t afraid to criticise powerful people. She is really intelligent and determined as she said, “I do feel that I’m going to win in the long run,”. She represents true feminism and what a woman is and can be to the society. I truly look up to her. The world really needs more women like her.

Do words have God in them?

I was reading ‘Brida’ by ‘Paulo Coelho’ yesterday. The novel was so captivating that I finished it in a day. His books always does this to me. Whenever I pick up a book by him, it feels as if I entered a magical words. The best part is the language, so simple yet elegant and beautifully written. The beauty of his novels is awestrucking. I do agree the way it ended felt incomplete and didn’t reach expectations but he enlightened us with ways of life.

Is Age Just an Illusion?

You are never too old or too young…

A very popular quotation-“Age is just a number”. Everyone has heard about it but they don’t realise the true meaning of it. Aging is based on empirical system of concept of time. Time was in the past, present and even in future. It was there even before humans. Early man didn’t know aging. But he knew time by the tradition of Sun and Moon. Then came the concept of human lifespan.

This all came to my mind when I realised it’s too late to pursue the college of my dreams. Where I wanted to go since childhood. Criticism took over me and I didn’t apply. Only because it wasn’t linked with academics? It’s ok and I don’t regret it. I don’t need a degree to be a designer. And then, this idea struck me. Age can’t define me. I’ll never be too old or yoo young. It’s just an illusion. Many would say aging is a phenomena and not a theory. It’s true. I agree. But what matters is the perception. To look at a thing, there can be only two ways: scientific and natural. I look at age from my mind, heartand soul. My body may tell how old I am but it’s never too old for anything. I am eighteen. Presently, I am too old to start learning ballet and at the same time I am too young to be the president of the country. Isn’t it an illusion? How can I be too young and old at the same time? Does age really matters?

What I want to convey is the idea of not giving up on something just because you think you are too old or young for it. I agree it can’t be applied to each and every case. You can’t drink before legal age. I am not trying to convey that. But to polish and acquiring skills. What matters is your mental age. My face may say I am really young but I know I am mature enough to make sensible decisions. The maturity of your mind has nothing to do with your body aging. Youth can never leave you, if you stay young at heart. Someday, I’ll turn 81 but I’ll never lose my 18 year old mind.

Utopian Dreams

Writing about dreams is one of my favorite topic. It’s actually every aspiring person’s favorite topic. But sometimes we have tendency of dreaming something or imagining a pitch perfect situation which is only possible in a Utopian world. Dreaming big is never wrong. Actually it is good. If you will set high standards, you may not land on it but maybe somewhere near it which is better than average and regular goal.

This game of life may put you into different scenarios. But it’s never bad to take up challenges and stand up to them. We all dream about everything being perfect and also imagine the scenario in our mind, the series of things that will and should occur. If the case wasn’t as we imagined, it may seem like a state of dystopia. Disappointment is a natural psychological stress bound to every single human. It’s totally normal to feel it and go through it. Everything can’t go as expected. Maybe this is the reason why they say, “expectations lead to disappointment”. The idea of quote is entirely from what we understand. It actually means that one should be self contented.

Being self contended is not an easy task as even economics say that human wants are unlimited. There is no limit to the desires of a human being. Maybe that’s why there is a difference between human being and “being human“. Maybe our desires sometimes turn us into narcissist monster. Self contentment is the state of being happy with what all one has.

Sometimes, our dreams may not turn into reality. But that doesn’t mean one should not try for impossible. Creating a utopian society is the ultimate goal.
